Flood Recovery Rental Support Payment available

Applications are now open for the flood recovery rental support payment for residents who were impacted by the flood.

The one-off payment is to help pay for short-term accommodation bookings made on or after 22 February 2022 that are 14 nights or more.

The payment is based on the number of people who normally live in your home who need short-term accommodation:

  • 1 person – $6,000
  • 2 people – $7,200
  • 3 people – $9,200
  • 4 people – $12,400
  • 5 people – $15,200
  • 6 people – $18,000

If you have more than 6 people in your household, the payment will increase by $2,800 for each additional person.  ​​​​​

One person from each household can apply.

What you need

  • a MyServiceNSW Account – you can create one when you start your application
  • your name, email address and phone number
  • your proof of identity
  • photographic evidence of the direct damage to your property
  • the number of people in your household who need short-term accommodation
  • evidence of your temporary accommodation booking
  • your Australian bank account details for payment
  • a council rates notice or utility bill from the past 12 months (if you own and live in the property)
  • a copy of the current rental agreement, or a utility bill from the past 12 months (if you rent the property)
    Note: If you’re unable to provide these documents, you may provide two other pieces of evidence such as a vehicle registration notice, or a letter with your address from Centrelink, the Australian Tax Office, Service NSW or Transport for NSW.
