Community Sector 2019 Indigenous Scholarship Program

Applications are now open for the Community Sector Banking’s Indigenous Scholarship Program for 2019.

Indigenous Tertiary Scholarships to Help Students Stay in School | With Indigenous tertiary students more than twice as likely as their non-Indigenous counterparts to drop-out of university or TAFE after the first year, a raft of scholarships are up for grabs in a bid to keep students in school.

As proud supporters of reconciliation, and committed to Closing the Gap nationally, the Community Sector Banking’s Indigenous Scholarship Program was created for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students studying at either university or TAFE, or towards an apprenticeship or traineeship in 2019. The scholarships are designed to help with the costs of study, including course fees, accommodation costs and textbooks.

The scholarship program is administered in partnership with the Community Enterprise Foundation. This is the second year the program has run.

Scholarship categories

The Scholarship program is designed to support students through tertiary study by assisting with the cost. The scholarships are available across four categories:

  • Category 1: 2 x $10,000 to study at any Australian university
  • Category 2: 1 x $10,000 to study at the University of Wollongong
  • Category 3: 2 x $5,000 to study at TAFE (excl. apprenticeships and traineeships)
  • Category 4: 4 x $5,000 to study towards a TAFE apprenticeship or traineeship at an approved Registered Training Organisation
